My articles from the week

We are almost done with Daredevil season 2, as this week I published a review of the penultimate episode, “The Dark at the End of the Tunnel.”

Continuing with MCU Movie Retro-Reviews:  Iron Man 2.  Is it as bad as they say?  (Spoiler:  Not really)

The final article in my Civil War follow-up series:  Zemo.

Both Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be at Comic-Con this year, so hopefully we will get plenty of new details from them there!

Here are some interesting teases from Mads Mikkelsen for Doctor Strange.  Who do you think he is playing?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has wrapped filming.

Donald Glover has been cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming!  He voices Miles Morales on Ultimate Spider-Man, and when the Sony deal was announced last year he was a huge fan-favorite to play the MCU Spider-Man—as the Miles Morales version!  Now he will be appearing in the Spider-Man solo movie, but we don’t know his role.  ScreenRant wants him to play Miles Morales, but I’m not so sure.  Considering that Glover is 32 and Tom Holland is 20, while in the comics Miles is 2-3 years younger than Peter, I just don’t think that would work.  ScreenRant thinks that since Miles is supposed to be inexperienced while Peter is experienced, it could still work, but Peter really doesn’t have enough experience for even that to work.  They could certainly have Glover connected to Miles Morales, but only as his father, who appears with a non-powered Miles in a couple scenes in this movie.  Then in the second or third Spider-Man solo movie Miles can get his powers and either take over for Peter or become his sidekick as “Kid Arachnid” or something.  In my estimation, this just isn’t the right time for Miles Morales to become Spider-Man.  Do you want to see Donald Glover play Miles Morales to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker?  If not, who do you want him to play?

Update from director Jon Watts:  Michael Barbieri is not playing a version of Ganke from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.

Martin Starr is joining the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming in an unknown role.  Previously he had a cameo as the other guy in the computer lab in The Incredible Hulk (the one who ate the pizza).  Who do you think he should play?  If there's a connection between the two, my guess is that he will be Peter's science teacher.  But that's just a wild guess.

Logan Marshall-Green could play a secondary villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  What villain do you want to see him as?

News from Around Geekdom

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

Jena Malone’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice character is actually Jenet Klyburn, a S.T.A.R. Labs employee who becomes the director in the comics

So Supergirl will introduce Superman at the beginning of season 2, and he will be played by Tyler Hoechlin.  I’m actually really surprised that they are letting the actual Superman join the Flash/Arrowverse, considering that they haven’t wanted to do that with even the Suicide Squad so far.
