Weekly MCU Review for 7/23 (SDCC Edition)

Another week, and more MCU news!  San Diego Comic-Con is going on this weekend, so there’s a ton of news coming out of that!  Put some ketchup on your eggs, and catch-up on your Marvel news!

Mostly MCU Reviews

My articles from the week

First up is my retro-review of Thor: The Dark World.  It’s not the best movie, but it’s only really bad by MCU standards (and those are really high).

Next, expectations for San Diego Comic-Con.  Spoiler:  quite a few of those expectations have already been met!

Doesn’t tell us much of anything, but it’s still cool.

Here, however, is something that does tell us quite a bit:  the first full-length trailer for Luke Cage!  What do you think of it?

According to Joe Quesada, Iron Fist will have more villains than any previous Marvel/Netflix series.  I am definitely excited for this one to drop next year!

More videos:  first trailers for Iron Fist and The Defenders (both coming in 2017), and finally a sizzle reel for all the Marvel/Netflix series so far.

Also coming out of Comic-Con is the logo for Iron Fist:

No surprise here:  Rosario Dawson is semi-confirmed to be in Iron Fist.  With her, it's more a question of "when" than "if."

Daredevil season 3 was announced at Comic-Con!  No idea when it will happen, but probably after The Defenders.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 started production on July 21.

Oh, wow.  Not only is Ghost Rider confirmed for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3, but they revealed the actor for Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) and even the car:

How cool is this!

Also of note, Daisy gets a new love interest, though there’s no clue who it will be.  Considering her last one died, is this really newsworthy, though?

Finally, here is the poster for season 4, along with a few videos:

Joe Quesada will be showing a teaser for an upcoming Marvel TV project this afternoon at his panel.  No idea what it is, but it could be Damage Control, Cloak and Dagger, The Punisher, or even Legion (a FOX/Marvel collaboration), or something thus-far unannounced.  I’m going to assume it isn’t Iron Fist or The Defenders since we already received trailers for both of them.  Speculation?

Looks pretty good!

Blasphemy!  Is it blasphemy?  Could I get a second opinion?

Star Wars Episode VIII has finished filming!

Here is an interview with Timothy Zahn (the creator of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is writing the new Thrawn book), in which he talks about what it’s like to see his creation appear on Star Wars Rebels and also revisit him with a new in-continuity book.  Are you excited to see Thrawn in the new continuity?  I know I am!

And here is the trailer for Star Wars Rebels season 3.  Wow!

The new Star Trek TV show announced David Semel as the director.

Does this make me old?  VCRs are now going out of production.  I think that makes me old.

Are you going to read this new Serenity comic from Dark Horse?
