Weekly MCU Review for March 11

Another week, and more MCU news!  We’re only a week away from Iron Fist, Thor: Ragnarok is ramping up its marketing, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is only 2 months away!  Put some ketchup on your eggs, and catch-up on your Marvel news!

Sorry I haven’t posted anything but MCU Reviews for a while.  I’ll try to get a “Too Long; Didn’t Watch” article on Iron Fist published early in the week, and then post expectations for it on Thursday.

They really pulled back the curtain on Thor: Ragnarok this week.  There are a whole bunch of photos showing Valkyrie, Hela, Thor, Loki, and even the Grandmaster.  There’s also a little information about the role Hela plays in the movie.  It all looks and sounds really cool and exciting, but I do worry that there might be a little too much going on.  What do you think?

Why is the working title for Ant-Man and the WaspCherry Blue”?  What does that even mean?  At least this means they are getting closer to filming the sequel.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is planning to begin filming July 6 this year.  Captain Marvel will begin shooting January 8 next year.

We’re just a week away from the Iron Fist release, so it’s time to get a little more information on the series.  In an interview with SFX Magazine, Scott Buck revealed that Danny will not be wearing a costume or mask in season 1 because he’s still figuring out who he is as a hero.  That’s basically what happened with Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.  Even Daredevil didn’t put on his actual suit until the last episode of his first season.

Marvel and Netflix can’t be happy that the first reviews for Iron Fist are sounding like this.

Marvel’s Inhumans (the “movie” of the series’ first 2 episodes) is confirmed to premiere in IMAX theaters on September 1.  It will be in theaters for a couple weeks before premiering on ABC.  This isn’t exactly breaking news, but before now the exact date was kind of speculative.

So it appears that some of the NuHumans characters from the comics will appear in the Inhumans series.  Does this mean they could be adapting a version of the Inhumans, All-New Inhumans, or Inhumanity stories?  The pieces are there, considering that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spread Terrigen across the world and it should reach everywhere by the fall.

The Runaways pilot has finished filming.  I doubt we will find out anything more about this series for a while.

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

Zazie Beetz has been cast as Domino in Deadpool 2.

Matt Nix is reuniting with Coby Bell (Burn Notice) for his X-Men pilot, in which Bell will play what sounds like the lead antagonist.

Star Wars Rebels has been renewed for season 4, and Dave Filoni will have information on it at Star Wars Celebration!

I’m not entirely sure what to think about this stand-alone Marian movie starring Margot Robbie.  It could be good, but it’s from Sony… That’s not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it certainly doesn’t instill confidence after their last 3 Spider-Man movies—and greenlighting The Emoji Movie.

Is it sad that I honestly forgot this was even happening?  There’s been so much talk about the gay Le Feu in the live-action Beauty and the Beast (did anyone else get the vibe he might be gay in the animated movie?) that this one completely slipped my mind.
