Mostly MCU Reviews

My articles from the week

So here’s my review of The Amazing Spider-Man.  It’s definitely not bad, even if it’s not the best Spider-Man movie ever.

MCU News

It turns out that Gwyneth Paltrow will have a cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and that Donald Glover is playing the Prowler.

Plenty of other Spider-Man news:  Miles Morales is “out there” in the MCU somewhere (I expect to see him in a few years as a replacement/protégé for Peter), Tom Holland confirmed the fan theory that the kid in Iron Man 2 is a young Peter Parker, and the Spider-Man sequel (which will follow Avengers 4 in 2019) will film next year.

Inhumans got an official poster and release date (September 1 in theaters, September 29 on ABC), as well as a trailer:

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will not be at San Diego Comic-Con, but will be at the New York one.  However, The Defenders and Inhumans will both be at SDCC.

Interesting statement from Kevin Feige about Blade:  he thinks at some point it would be fun to have him in the MCU, and he considers him to be a “legacy.”  Can you say Blade movie/series with Blade training his daughter as the new vampire hunter?

Remember those debunked Captain Britain rumors from a year or so ago?  According to Kevin Feige, Marvel has had conversations about Captain Britain, as well as actors who expressed an interest in playing him, but that’s it so far.

According to Tom Holland, the Marvel One-Shots are coming back!

News from Around Geekdom

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

So Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige have clarified that the Sony Spidey Spinoffs are not in the MCU.  To be honest I kinda saw this coming.  Of course, Amy Pascal just can’t seem to keep her mouth shut about whether or not Venom is in the MCU, so she’s contradicted herself a bunch of times.

Star Wars Rebels will be available on August 29 on Blu-Ray and DVD.

If you are a fan of Hook, check out Dante Basco’s (Rufio) short film Bangarang: The Hook Prequel.

I remember seeing a trailer for the Russian superhero movie Guardians and thinking it looked pretty cool.  Apparently the critics hated it and it didn’t do so great in Russia.  However, it will get a DVD release in the US.  Are you going to check it out?
