Weekly MCU Review for July 22

Another week, and more MCU news!  There’s a lot of stuff going on, what with San Diego Comic-Con going on this weekend.  Put some ketchup on your eggs, and catch-up on your Marvel news!

Mostly MCU Reviews

My articles from the week

Only two reviews in the last 2 weeks (neither for good movies):  Daredevil and Elektra.  Hopefully I’ll get my spoiler review of Spider-Man: Homecoming out this week.

Would you like to see Bill Foster (the second (?) Goliath/“Black Goliath” join the MCU in Ant-Man and the Wasp?  I definitely would, especially if they keep the Pym connection alive by making him a coworker of Hank who assisted him at S.H.I.E.L.D.

Avengers: Infinity War wrapped filming.

There are a lot of heroes on this Avengers: Infinity War poster.

Here’s one to add to the list of things I never thought I would do:  worry about a movie character’s hair.  But I’m sure I’m not the only one who has wondered just how well they would be able to translated Medusa’s prehensile hair to the Inhumans TV series.  Apparently it’s a combination of practical and CGI effects.

Check out the SDCC trailer for Marvel’s Inhumans.  You know, it looks really good!  It appears that they are going to acknowledge the spread of Terrigen on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. by having at least one “Nuhuman” character found by an Attilan Inhuman.

The Inhumans TV premiere will include more footage than the IMAX cut.  I was kind of expecting the opposite, but I guess it depends on how long the IMAX cut is going to be.

So Attilan is definitely going to be on the Moon.  Not surprised.

Here is the Comic-Con trailer for The Defenders.  It looks pretty good.  They are definitely going to be getting some help, since I saw Stick fighting with them at least once.  I wonder what other heroes might be there as well.

Iron Fist season 2 has been announced, with Misty Knight joining the series.

The Runaways will premiere on November 21.

Here is the announced cast of New Warriors:
Milana Vayntrub:  Doreen Green, a.k.a. Squirrel Girl
Derek Theler:  Craig Hollis, a.k.a. Mister Immortal
Jeremy Tardy:  Dwayne Taylor, a.k.a. Night Thrasher
Calum Worthy:  Robbie Baldwin, a.k.a. Speedball
Matthew Moy:  Zack Smith, a.k.a. Microbe
Kate Comer:  Deborah Fields, a.k.a. Debrii

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

It appears that Sony’s Silver and Black will feature at least 5 other Spidey villains:  Mendel Stromm, Tarantula, Scorpion, Chameleon, and Tombstone.  Also, there will be a number of comic book heroes (some previously controlled by Marvel Studios) in this movie: Dominic Fortune, Mark Sim, and Powell and Klein.  Is this too packed?  It’s really feeling packed.

So FOX is going to try a new “Fantastic Four” movie focused on Doctor Doom.

New Mutants started filming last week.

So that makes it all clear as mud:  According to Matt Nix, The Gifted still takes place in the movies’ continuity, but in its own separate timestream, so there won’t be any connection between the movies and the show.  Huh.  Wouldn’t it have been easier to just say it’s a different continuity?  Of course, maybe he’s setting this before either Logan or X-Men: Days of Future Past, with the show leading up to the dystopian future of that movie.

On the bright side, here is the Comic-Con Trailer for The Gifted.

There’s a rumor that Ben Affleck is done with the DCEU (UPDATE:  never mind).  Considering how much I liked him in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, I’m disappointed to hear this.

DC’s Shazam movie is rumored to start production in February.  However, it is also rumored that the Rock’s Black Adam will not be in it.

Joss Whedon will start working on Batgirl next year.

Warner Bros. announced a Harley Quinn vs. the Joker movie for the DCEU.  They really like Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, don’t they?

The digital (Teen) Titans series will be 13 episodes long, at least for the first season.  Also, it started production this week.

Disney’s live-action Dumbo has started filming.

Disney’s live-action Aladdin announced three cast members:
Mena Massoud as Aladdin
Naomi Scott as Jasmine
Will Smith as Genie
