Mostly MCU Reviews

My articles from the week

First up is my review of the penultimate Jessica Jones season 1 episode, "AKA Take A Bloody Number."  What are you looking forward to from season 2?

Next, expectations and review for Tuesday's Agent Carter episodes, "Life of the Party" and "Monsters."

Finally, here is a case study in MCU connectivity, looking back at the lead-up and aftermath of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Do you want to see this degree of connectivity with Captain America: Civil War?

So according to Anthony Mackie the Hulk might be in Captain America: Civil War, after all…

Here’s an awesome Empire cover in which Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. reenact one of the classic shots from the comic book “Civil War.”

Awesome!

James Gunn made an official announcement for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which includes a cast list (Pom Klementieff is playing Mantis and Kurt Russell is playing Quill’s still-unnamed father), as well as the following teaser photo:

Here is the long-awaited Daredevil season 2 trailer:
What do you think?  I think it’s absolutely awesome… and there’s a second part coming out next Thursday!

To tide you over until next Thursday, here is a teaser hinting at the epic chained-Daredevil scene from the comics, along with a poster:

As was rumored a while back, Natalia Cordova-Buckley has been cast as Elena Rodriguez, a Colombian Inhuman based on the Marvel Comics character Yo-Yo Rodriguez, a.k.a. Slingshot.  In the comics Yo-Yo has the ability to move at super speed, but always “slingshots” back to the place where she started.  I hope they decide to stick with that power; it’s pretty cool and unique!

Here is a promo for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3B premiere, which includes our first looks at Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Slingshot, Zombie Ward, and a couple new Inhumans.  Let’s see:  one looks at an agent and put him in a catatonic state, and one looks like it might be Absorbing Man (who is back for the midseason premiere).  Also, President Ellis is going to be appearing, so that’s cool.

News from Around Geekdom

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

So the Deadpool movie smashed all the records for a February opening weekend, with $135 million domestically and $125 million internationally, and all on a $58 million budget!

Yet another report has surfaced lending credence to the rumor that Wolverine 3 will be R-Rated and adapt the “Old Man Logan” storyline.  As cool as this sounds, I do wonder how it will jive with the FOX X-Men timeline.

There’s a rumor from a French magazine claiming that Jena Malone’s mysterious role in Batman v. Superman is none other than Barbara Gordon.  This isn’t confirmed by DC or WB, but it would make sense.  I find Batgirl to be an interesting character, so I hope this is true (and that we see more of the Bat Family in the DCEU).

Here is a trailer and casting announcement for the beginning of production on Star Wars: Episode VIII.
