Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4, Episode 17, "Identity and Change" EXPECTATIONS

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues tonight with “Identity and Change” (4x17) at 10:00 PM Eastern/Pacific.  What do we expect from tonight's episode?

What happened in the last episode, “What If...”?
So the Framework is pretty much based on Philip K. Dick’s The Man in the High Castle:  Hydra won after an Inhuman (the girl from Bahrain) supposedly went crazy and killed a bunch of people.  Now Hydra is hunting down Inhumans, Coulson never joined S.H.I.E.L.D., and Grant Ward is still alive and in a relationship with Daisy (who’s now “Skye” again).  Also, Ward is a traitor… again… but this time to the Inhuman Resistance.  Daisy/Skye and Simmons need to escape the Framework, but AIDA found their backdoor escape hatch and disabled it.  Oh, and Fitz is the stereotypical evil Hydra scientist… and in a relationship with AIDA (who is Madame Hydra).

Umm… Hail Hydra?

Episode Synopsis for “Identity and Change”:
“As Daisy and Simmons struggle to discover an escape route to the real world, the identity of the Inhuman leader of the Resistance is revealed.”

Continuing plot points:

  • So how did the Framework get to be so messed up (other than the Butterfly Effect)?
  • Daisy/Skye and Simmons need to escape from the Framework
  • How will the characters’ experiences within the Framework affect them outside the Framework?
  • What are the Agents doing outside the Framework?

What I am looking for tonight:

  • I think Mace is going to really be Inhuman in the Framework—does that mean he is Inhuman in real life?
    • Of course, Mace might just be the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. and not of the Inhuman Restistance
  • We will finally learn what’s up with Mack in the Framework
  • Radcliffe is going to be in the episode; I assume that he will shed some light on what happened and how they can (not) escape
  • Daisy/Skye and Ward’s “relationship” will get further explored, which may help Daisy reconcile with Lincoln’s death
  • Now that Coulson is on board, we will see a completely different side of him, now that Mace is the boss and he’s the new guy
  • This might be a little too soon to check in with the Zephyr, but at some point I do want to see what the conditions are like in the real world

What would be awesome but probably won’t happen:
Jiaying appears as the leader of the Inhuman Resistance, giving us a completely different aspect of her character—and a completely different meeting between her and Daisy.

So what are you looking for in tonight’s episode?  What is there that you really want to see but may not see at all?
