Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues tonight with “The Laws
of Inferno Dynamics” (4x08) at 10:00 PM Eastern/Pacific. What do we
expect from tonight's episode?
What happened in the last episode,
“Deals with Our Devils”?
Coulson, Fitz, and Robbie are
trapped between dimensions and being dragged into the other one. May brings the Darkhold to Radcliffe,
who allows AIDA to read it and construct a portal to bring them back. However, AIDA learns more than just how to
build a portal from the book. Meanwhile,
the Spirit of Vengeance leaves Robbie for Mack rather than be dragged to the
other dimension. However, Robbie makes a
new deal with the Spirit: He will settle
all the Spirit’s scores in exchange for the Spirit returning to him and giving
him vengeance against Eli.
Episode Synopsis for “The Laws of
Inferno Dynamics”:
S.H.I.E.L.D. and Ghost Rider find themselves unlikely allies when the lives of all of Los Angeles hang in the balance
Continuing plot points:
- Coulson is not Director anymore; he and Mack have a “buddy cop” routine going
- Who is the new Director as a person? Where do his loyalties lie? Is he a puppet (with Coulson more or less in control behind-the-scenes, as with him and Talbot last season)? Is he another Nick Fury? Is he working for someone else?
- Daisy off on her own; the team is trying to bring her in
- May training new recruits—including Inhumans?
- Life-Model Decoys—what do they mean for S.H.I.E.L.D.?
- Who is Robbie Reyes?
- The aftermath of the Sokovia Accords/Superhuman Civil War
- Magic and the MCU
What I am looking for tonight:
- Some awesome super-powered fight sequences with Robbie, Daisy, and Yo-Yo
- I wouldn’t be surprised if that “A-Team” gets bolstered with a few more heroes (Mack and Mace both come to mind)
- Defeating Eli will be the most important part of this episode
- I expect the plot with AIDA to carry over into the second half of the season
- This may be the end of Ghost Rider’s story of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; if that is the case, I expect this episode to set up his spinoff series
What would be awesome but probably
won’t happen:
The new Inhuman from last week
shows up in the fight sequence against Eli and turns out to be Inferno. (“But ‘Inferno’ is a reference to Ghost Rider…” “I know; that’s the joke”)
So what are you looking for in
tonight’s episode? What is there that
you really want to see but may not see at all?
