Weekly MCU Review for 11/7

Another week, and more MCU news!  Doctor Strange rumors and photos are starting to leak, there was a major reveal on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which aired its 50th episode), and a whole slew of other stuff happened.  Put some ketchup on your eggs, and catch-up (*ducks*) on your Marvel news!

Mostly MCU Reviews

My articles from the week

Unrelated to Marvel (except that it's also owned by Disney):  Star Wars Rebels.  Did you know that that series can really be viewed as Kanan's Story?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3, Episode 6, "Among Us Hide..." expectations and review.   What did you think of this episode?

On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this week they revealed Lash's identity.  Were you blown away?

You know, this makes two MCU actors who are Kansas City Royals fans:  Paul Rudd and Hayley Atwell.  Between this and the Super Bowl bet, I’m curious what all the actors’ favorite sports teams are.

Here is a new promo image for Captain America: Civil War showing Captain America and Iron Man’s new suits.  What do you think?

Marvel is evidently interested in Michael Stuhlbarg for an unspecified role in Doctor Strange.  Also, Mads Mikkelsen has also reportedly joined the cast.  Who do you think they will/might be playing?

Doctor Strange has begun filming in Nepal.  Here are a few more set photos.

Thus far the Warriors Three don’t know if they will be back for Thor: Ragnarok.  Do you want to see them again?  Personally, I think it’s only a matter of time before they confirm that they’re in the Thor threequel.

Were you surprised by the shocking reveal on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this week?  Because Ming-Na Wen sure was!  As you probably saw in yesterday’s article, I was kind of surprised by it, though I knew he was the only remaining option.  Of course, just because Reddit called this 2 weeks ago doesn’t mean it’s a bad twist:  like the Winter Soldier turning out to be Bucky, the payoff isn’t with the shock value for the audience so much as the shock value for the characters.

Mark Dacascos, a “seasoned martial artist,” has been cast in a recurring role as “Giyera” on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  He will be the new S.H.I.E.L.D. head of security.  Might “Giyera” be a false flag to throw us off because he’s a comic book character?

Agent Carter has cast Ken Marino to play Joseph Manfredi in season 2.

Here is the list of Jessica Jones episode titles and summaries.  Thoughts 2 weeks before seeing it?

Here are some more Jessica Jones photos.  2 weeks to go…

Rumor Has It that Marvel is planning to replace Iron Fist with Punisher and instead turn Iron Fist into a Netflix feature film.  I’ll be back later with my thoughts on this rumor, but I’d love to hear yours in the meantime.

News from Around Geekdom

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

Are you going to play this new Marvel game?

Who should Nicole Kidman play in Wonder Woman?

Here are some details on Ares’ role in Wonder Woman.

You know, I think Constantine might hold a grudge against NBC!

A big Star Wars fan dying of cancer wants an advance screening of The Force Awakens.  I love that JJ Abrams allowed that with Star Trek Into Darkness; hopefully the same thing can happen for this man.  And just like that, it did.

If you are planning to put on a costume to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, be sure to check the theater’s rules.  Cinemark and AMC have both published rules for costumes and weapons.  Cinemark won’t allow any weapons or masks; AMC won’t allow any blasters or masks (lightsabers are okay).  Because a toy blaster is so dangerous…

You know all those major spoilers out for Star Wars: The Force Awakens?  Me, neither!  And Disney has decided to hold back the release date for the Episode VII tie-in novel to make sure it stays that way!  The book was originally scheduled to come out slightly before the movie, but now it’s being held back until January 5, though digital copies will be available when the movie premieres.

Get yer Slave Leia merchandise while you can!  Disney is reportedly planning to discontinue any merchandise depicting Leia in a gold bikini.  Is that a good thing or a bad thing?  I mean, at least the gold bikini made sense—or at least more than anything Padme wore in the prequels!

I have one word for this story, and I’m going to quote Malcolm Reynolds for it:  Huh.  Why exactly would FOX decide to start a flame war with Star Wars?  Are they hurting for clicks that badly?

Star Trek will be returning to the small screen in 2017.  Thus far, pretty much nothing else is known about the series.  Excited?

FOX has reportedly ordered a pilot for a reboot of The Greatest American Hero.  Interested in seeing a reboot?

Chloë Grace Moretz will be leading a live-action Little Mermaid movie.

Here is the first Warcraft trailer.
