My articles from the week

There was quite a bit this week, particularly with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.  However, the first post for this week was part 4 of my Iron Fist review, looking at the 3 comic book martial artists who were adapted.

Next up, expectations and review for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4, episode 20, “Farewell, Cruel World!”

Finally, expectations and (non-spoiler) review for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 came out in the U.S. this weekend, and is already up to $167 million internationally, in addition to $17 million from Thursday previews in the U.S. in box office revenue.  I can’t find any Friday numbers yet, but it’s got to be high.

Apparently there was another post-credits scene (in addition to the five it had) which was cut (spoilers).  Honestly, I’m glad it got cut, as it really doesn’t sound like it was particularly funny or important.

According to Kevin Feige, the movies and TV shows will have that major crossover “eventually.”  Of course, crossovers and tie-ins have already happened several times on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but this is more focused on TV characters appearing in the movies.

Here is the next trailer for The Defenders!

Here is the first teaser poster for Marvel’s Inhumans:

That looks like it was pulled directly from the comics!

Also this week, the first look at the Royal Family in Marvel’s Inhumans (minus Triton and Lockjaw):

What do you think of the photo?  I think it looks pretty good, though I’m curious what it will look like with all the necessary CGI.  Black Bolt’s lack of cowl is a bit jarring.  Also, I expected him to be bald.  Also, check out the Q & A that goes along with the photo.  Scott Buck has some interesting things to say about the series and the effects necessary for the more effects-heavy characters.

Finally, Marvel’s Inhumans released a teaser trailer.  It doesn’t exactly reveal anything except that Maximus is the villain (umm… spoilers?).

All kinds of stuff happened with The Runaways this week:  the show was ordered to series, released a cast photo and logo (see below),was given a winter premiere date, and even released a teaser trailer at the TV upfronts (no official link; if you find one, put it in the comments and I will update).  Not a bad couple days!

Thus far everything about this series looks good.
