My articles from the week

So who’s seen Avengers: Age of Ultron so far?  If you haven’t, check out my non-spoiler review from last Friday; if you have, check out my spoiler review from Saturday.

How did Avengers: Age of Ultron lead into this week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?  Here are my thoughts from before the episode aired.  How did I do?

Daredevil episode 1x04, “In the Blood” review.  What was your favorite moment?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode 2x20, “Scars” expectations and review.  What did you think of the episode?

How long do you think Avengers: Age of Ultron should have been?  I think huge ensemble movies should get a little more leeway in terms of length, but that might just be me.  Would you be turned off by a 3½-hour Avengers movie?

The Late-S.H.I.E.L.D. Pseudo-Director offers his insights on how to negotiate with the Inhumans.  What do you think of his advice?

Age of Ultron has now made the MCU the highest-grossing movie franchise in the world and it’s not going to be finished any time soon.  Any guesses how much the MCU will gross by the end of Phase 3?

Age of Ultron’s official U.S. opening weekend total is $191.3 million.  That’s higher than they said at first, but still lower than the first movie and lower than most expectations.  Where do you think the total will go from here?

Joss Whedon wanted to include Spider-Man and Captain Marvel in Avengers: Age of Ultron in some capacity at first.  Would you have liked to see that?  I'm torn:  on the one hand it would have been awesome; on the other hand that would have meant 6 new characters in a movie with a dozen returning characters.

Tom Hardy wants to play the Punisher.  I wonder if he might be too big of a name to appear on Netflix (which may be the best venue for an MCU Punisher), but if the money’s there and the actor’s there, I’m pretty sure the House of Mouse can make it work!  Do you want to see Tom Hardy as Frank Castle?

Here are the details on a certain cut scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron starring a fan-favorite character.  Do you wish they had included this scene?

Martin Freeman joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War.  Any idea who he might be playing?  On that subject, take a minute and look at this cast list for Captain America: Civil War.  There are TEN Avengers (or future Avengers like Black Panther) on that list!  And that’s not including Avengers frenemy The Winter Soldier, ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Sharon Carter and Frank Grillo/Crossbones, or the new Spider-Man!  This is going to be the biggest MCU movie to-date… and both Infinity War movies will probably be bigger!  Who’s excited to see all of these heroes (and a few villains) in action?

Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 will be the first movie(s) filmed entirely with the new IMAX camera.  This sounds pretty cool.  However, for me the story itself is more important than the camera technology.  A good movie can transcend lower-quality cameras (not camera-work, but the cameras themselves); a bad movie is bad no matter what technology the directors throw at it.  But what do you think?

Marvel TV—ABC Division has decided not to double its shows again this year.  The Bobbi and Hunter spinoff is not going to happen, but the other series is still in the works.  However, it’s not all bad news:  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter were both confirmed for another season!  Are you disappointed that we don’t get 2 new shows, or does the news that both shows are returning and there’s a third show coming alleviate it?  Personally, I was hoping for a spinoff show in which Bobbi and Hunter lead a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and Inhumans working together against a common enemy.  Maybe they’ll find a way to work that into AoS season 3.

Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple will be back for Daredevil season 2, along with other Marvel Netflix series.  Are you excited to see more of her?

News from Around Geekdom

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

Two of the top three most-valuable comic book movie franchises are Marvel-related, and the MCU isn’t one of them.  Any guesses to number 1?

Here’s the first look at the Suicide Squad in costume.  What do you think of it?  Are you excited for this movie?

So the second Star Wars Anthology movie is going to be a Boba Fett origin story.  I’m pretty curious to see what they are doing with the franchise moving forward.  Are you excited?

Fox is releasing a “Rogue Cut” of X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Are you interested?  I think Marvel needs to do something similar with Avengers: Age of Ultron:  sell both the theatrical cut and director’s cut (#AoUDirectorsCut).

Announce ALL the reboots!  Disney is planning to reboot (or continue) the Indiana Jones franchise some day.  Would you go see it?  I think I would as long as it’s not another Kingdom of the Crystal Skull-thing.

And in other news, comic-book-based TV shows are taking over ALL the TV stations!  Supergirl was recently greenlit for a season one coming in the fall.  Are you going to watch it?  I’m tempted by the DCTVU, but I don’t think I can handle that on top of the MCU!

The one DC TV show I did watch this year was Constantine, which was not renewed.  If WB finds a new home for Constantine, are you going to watch season 2?
