My articles from the week

In last week’s Weekly MCU Review, I noted that there was a rumor about Captain Britain.  Well, it was quickly revealed to not be a rumor, but instead be a TV series idea which an independent producer was trying to work up to pitch to Marvel.  To be honest, this kind of this is a long shot at best, but here is why Marvel would benefit from taking it on.

Moving on through Daredevil season 2, here is my review of episode 2, “Dogs to a Gunfight.”  Have you finished the season yet?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3, episode 14, “Watchdogs” expectations and review.

Finally, my review of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Quick version:  it’s a decent movie that tries to do too much and gets dragged down by universe-building.

Just when I thought I wasn’t going to have anything to put in this section, I saw this announcement:  Iron Fist has cast Jessica Henwick to play Colleen Wing!  Additionally, Colleen will be the series’ female lead, though that doesn’t mean the two will necessarily be a romantic coupling.  In the comics, Danny eventually marries Colleen’s partner and best friend, Misty Knight (played by Simone Missick on Luke Cage), and the two also start a private detective agency called “The Daughters of the Dragon.”  Do you want to see any/all of this incorporated into the MCU?

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

Gambit got delayed again.

It’s not all bad news for FOX, though.  Simon Kinberg revealed quite a bit about the upcoming New Mutants movie, including some of the characters who will be featured.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice had a $166.1 Million opening weekend.  That put it at right around $420 Million globally, over half of what it needs to make in order to be profitable.  Pretty impressive!

Personally, I’m not going to put much stock into this report, stating that Batman v. Superman suffered a 55% drop from its Friday numbers last Sunday.  Considering that it was Easter, I’m guessing there were quite a few people who didn’t want to go to the movies.  But if that keeps up this weekend, that would indicate that there’s cause for concern.

Ben Affleck has written a script for a Batman solo film.  Now that you’ve seen “Batfleck’s” take on the Dark Knight, do you want to see his take on writing the Dark Knight?

Following up on his Batman v. Superman success, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that Zach Snyder will be directing a Star Wars Anthology movie.

Shortly after the Star Wars Rebels season finale aired, it was announced that Disney and Lucasfilm will release a new novel about Ahsoka Tano (Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) this October!  The novel will follow the events between The Clone Wars and Rebels.  Are you excited?

Do you want to see Mythbusters revived without Adam and Jamie?  Personally, I’ve got mixed feelings about it.
