The numbers are in for Captain America: Civil War’s foreign opening day, and it’s already made $14.9 million on day 1, $38.7 million over 2.  How high will it go?

Here is Marvel Studios’ official statement on the Ancient One casting “controversy” for Doctor Strange:

Marvel has a very strong record of diversity in its casting of films and regularly departs from stereotypes and source material to bring its MCU to life. The Ancient One is a title that is not exclusively held by any one character, but rather a moniker passed down through time, and in this particular film the embodiment is Celtic. We are very proud to have the enormously talented Tilda Swinton portray this unique and complex character alongside our richly diverse cast.

Remember Nathan Fillion’s cameo from Guardians of the Galaxy voicing a thug in the prison scene?  He’s getting another appearance in Vol. 2, but this time as a somewhat more recognizable Marvel character.  I won’t say who it is, but it’s probably not much of a spoiler.  I do wonder if this appearance will lead to any more appearances, though.

This sounded like something of an odd rumor at the time, but Kevin Feige has officially debunked the rumor that Nick Fury will be in Thor: Ragnarok.  However, he will be in a different upcoming movie.  My guess is Spider-Man: Homecoming; what’s yours?

Would you like to see RDJ in an Iron Man 4?  Depending on the movie, I would definitely be up for that!  Perhaps they could bring in the real Mandarin for this one.

Breaking news!  Marvel and Netflix have announced The Punisher as a spinoff of Daredevil season 2, with Jon Bernthal returning as Frank Castle and Steve Lightfoot as the showrunner!

Anything not related to the MCU that I find interesting

Seth Grahame-Smith has left the Flash movie due to creative differences.  With James Wan rumored to be leaving Aquaman, is the DCEU in trouble?  My answer:  not necessarily.  I mean, if Marvel could turn Ant-Man into a hit despite losing a director weeks before filming, nothing says DC can't do the same thing with these 2 movies.

Here’s some interesting news about Mads Mikkelsen’s Rogue One character:  he’s going to be Jyn’s father and the engineer who took over the Death Star project.  However, he has a Robert Oppenheimer moment and regrets his contributions to the Death Star.

So Disney announced a whole bunch more live-action fairy-tale films, claiming release dates in 2017, 2018, and 2019.  Take a look at the list of movies and let me know if there are any you are interested in seeing.

Well, then.  NBC just bought Dreamworks for $3.8 billion dollars.
